Raritan Bay Area YMCA To Open New Mental Health & Counseling Center in Perth Amboy

February 12, 2026

Perth Amboy, NJ - The Raritan Bay Area YMCA has begun development on The Y’s Center for Mental Health & Counseling. Located at 525 New Brunswick Avenue, the Center is expected to open in spring 2026 and will expand access to high-quality, community-based mental health services for individuals and families throughout Central New Jersey.

“Our vision is to become a leading community resource for comprehensive and equitable mental health care in Central New Jersey,” said Alejandrina Batista, Director of Mental Health at the Raritan Bay Area YMCA. “We are committed to fostering healing and resilience for all and creating an inclusive space where individuals not only receive care, but also experience positive social interactions, learning, and growth.”

The Center will offer a broad range of programs serving children, adults, and families, expanding the YMCA’s existing mental health services to include outpatient therapy and counseling in addition to its current 5 programs. Through culturally responsive, community-based support, the new Center will strengthen families, build coping skills, address emotional and behavioral health challenges, and promote overall mental and emotional well-being.

Licensed clinicians at the Center will provide individual therapy, couples counseling, family counseling, and group therapy, offering evidence-based and culturally responsive treatment to support individuals and families in achieving improved emotional well-being, healthy relationships, and sustainable coping strategies.

“This new endeavor represents a critical investment in the well-being of our community,” said Lou Seminski, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Raritan Bay Area YMCA. “By expanding access to mental health care, the YMCA is strengthening individuals, families, and the community as a whole.”
