The Y is one of the nation’s leading nonprofits strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are a diverse association of men, women, and children of all ages and from all walks of life, joined by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of all people. For over 114 years, the Raritan Bay Area YMCA has had a long-standing relationship and physical presence not just to promise, but to deliver lasting personal and social change.
Though the world may be unpredictable, one thing remains certain—the Y is, and always will be, dedicated to building healthy, confident, secure and connected children, families, and communities.
In 2019, the Raritan Bay Area YMCA has done the following:
- $62,000 in Financial Assistance was provided to strengthen approximately 490 families in need.
- Collectively, more than 6,000 of our City of Perth Amboy residents became healthier in spirit, mind, and body through Y memberships.
- 75+ volunteers donated their time to help us deliver on our commitment to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
- 600+ children nurtured daily during age-appropriate activities in our Y's preschool, school-age, before and after school care programs.
- Over 300+ children participated in Y summer camp and outdoor experiences, developed friendships, discovered new skills, and enhanced their confidence.
- 2,600+ children learned to swim towards reducing the risk of childhood drowning, instilling a lifelong love of swimming and educating children on safety around different water environments.
