THE LEGACY OF LEONARD "LENNY" SENDELSKY

Over the past years we have honored our long time beloved YMCA board member, community and business leader, Mr. Leonard “Lenny” Sendelsky who shared a story about how this YMCA positively impacted his life. Leonard Sendelsky “Lenny” had an enviable record of accomplishments in the building industry. Born and raised in Perth Amboy, a second-generation builder, his father was a carpenter and custom homebuilder, which initiated Lenny’s keen interest in the industry since 1952.  In 1958, he formed his own company, Lenguy Construction Corporation, and several other corporations.

Mr. Sendelsky was an active member of the Raritan Bay Area YMCA Board of Volunteers for more than 50 years.  His insight, vision, and support paved the way for our YMCA to become an organization focused on changing the lives of so many in our community. His passion and commitment to his hometown of Perth Amboy, and the YMCA where he spent his youth, was a great example of his belief in the values and services of the YMCA.

The Y is committed to ensuring everyone, regardless of age, income, background or race, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. To this end, the RARITAN BAY AREA YMCA provides YCARES Financial Assistance for those who may not be able to afford the full cost of membership, programs and services. This is only possible thanks to generous individuals who GIVE for a better us and support the Y.
