Aquatics

The RARITAN BAY AREA YMCA has taught people how to swim for many years, and we strive to provide individuals the opportunity to enter the water in a safe and fun environment.

We are proud to offer a state of the art 10-lane multi-competitive pool with a viewing gallery, recreational pool with temperature range of 85-87°F, and Wibit water obstacle course. Bring your swim cap and come for a swim with us!

PRIVATE LESSONS
Private lessons are beneficial in meeting the specific needs of the beginner, intermediate, and advanced swimmer. Lessons are arranged and scheduled based on instructor and swimmer’s availability. The duration of each lesson is 30 minutes.

SEMI—PRIVATE LESSONS
Semi-private lessons are booked for two swimmers of the same swimming level. Lessons are arranged and scheduled based on instructor and swimmer’s availability. The duration of each lesson is 30 minutes.

ADAPTIVE PRIVATE LESSONS
The Y offers adaptive lessons modified for individuals with special needs. Program curriculum will include water entry and exit, water submersion, floating, swimming to the edge of the pool, and swim-float-swim technique.

GROUP SWIM LESSONS
Group swim lessons are available for children ages 3–12 years old.

WATER ACCLIMATION (LEVEL 1)—Students develop comfort with underwater exploration and learn to safely exit in the event of falling into a body of water. This stage lays the foundation that allows for a student's future progress in swimming.

WATER MOVEMENT (LEVEL 2)—Students focus on body position and control, directional change, and forward movement in the water while also continuing to practice how to safely exit in the event of falling into a body of water.

WATER STAMINA (LEVEL 3)—Students learn how to swim to safety from a longer distance than in previous stages in the event of falling into a body of water. This stage also introduces rhythmic breathing and integrated arm and leg action.

All swim lessons are only once a week. Swim lesson sessions are a total of 6 weeks, one day a week for 30 minutes.
