Homeless Services

Center for Support, Success & Prosperity

Our Vision

Our vision is to aid those in a crisis, eliminate homelessness and empower individuals and families to a life of sustainability and self-improvement.

Our Mission Statement

To provide comprehensive holistic services that will assist individuals and families experiencing crises and or homelessness with their medical, social, spiritual, and emotional needs.

Since 1912, the Raritan Bay Area YMCA has been reaching out to those in need of shelter in Perth Amboy and the surrounding communities. Today, working together with God’s Army Ministries and other community agencies, the  Center for Support, Success & Prosperity assists individuals and families to overcome homelessness. At the Y, we believe the desire to belong and help others is human nature, because everyone has something of value to contribute to the greater good. We serve as a catalyst for positive change in Perth Amboy, bringing people together and giving them opportunities to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and their own lives.

At the Center for Support, Success & Prosperity we strive to:

  • Increase relationships by building a sense of trust, connecting families and individuals to community resources, and navigation of complicated governmental service systems.
  • Increase education, skill development, employment and benefit income of homeless families and individuals.
  • To assist families and individuals with social emotional well-being by providing comprehensive services and counseling referrals as needed.
  • To assist participants with seeking and obtaining permanent housing with the continuum of supportive services.

Together with, and thanks to, the generous support of our community, this past year we had the opportunity to:

  • Serve more than 1900 meals to homeless and underprivileged individuals via outreach.
  • Provide more than 72 nights in cooperating Hotels to homeless individuals and families.
  • Thankfully, with the incredible contributions by local stores and company, we were able to distribute clothing to more than 75 individuals and families in need.
  • Provide individuals the opportunity for a hot shower and hygiene products to over 200 individuals a year.
  • In collaboration with other local and County agencies we facilitated rental assistance and security deposits to an average of 125 families a year.
  • Place 96 individuals into permanent housing.
  • Provide over 1900 hours of Case Management in critical areas such as referrals to mental health treatment, addiction services, legal assistance, medical services, domestic violence and more.
  • Distributed more than 2000 hot meals in collaboration with local Perth Amboy restaurants.
  • In Partnership with local health care providers, we made available over 1,000 COVID 19 vaccinations.
  • Through a grant from the Office On Aging in Middlesex County we provide assistance to approximately 50 seniors to improve their housing situations through education and assistance in aspects of healthy housing.
  • Graduated 45 families from our Families Fit Together (FFT) Program that increases positive family interaction and decreased involvement in at-risk behaviors.
  • With a grant from the Office of Faith Based Initiatives provided 25 High School students exposure to the benefits of higher learning with the Middlesex College Success Bound program.
  • In the last 6-months, provided approximately 800 Uber and YMCA van transport rides to needed doctor and County social services appointments.

The Center for Support, Success & Prosperity program and services wouldn't be possible without the support of contributions. If you would like to be a part of SOMETHING BIGGER...
