SUMMER STARS DAY & ENRICHMENT CAMP                         

The RARITAN BAY AREA YMCA and PRAHD provide a safe, affordable, and fun day camp for preschool, elementary school, and middle school youth. The camp experience is one of wonder and exploration. Camp is packed with activities that fill summer days and offer independence and adventure. At camp, kids live and learn the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Campers and CITs will be provided a healthy lunch and snack daily.

Week 1: July 2nd – July 6th (Camp CLOSED July 4th)                                                     
Swim Camp

Make a Splash this Summer! Swim Camp helps beginner and intermediate swimmers develop important water skills, safety, responsibility when swimming, and a lifetime love of the water. The key components of Swim Camp are: Personal Safety; learn to be safe in and around water, Personal Growth; campers learn new skills and build self-esteem, Stroke Development; campers strengthen their stroke technique and learn its mechanics, Water Games; games are used to enhance skills learned in the water & on our wibit! (All campers receive a pair of goggles)

Week 2: July 9th – July 13th
Dance Camp

An exciting and action-packed week for your dancer to keep moving this summer! Campers will learn the basic fundamentals of hip-hop thru its many styles. It is designed for children who love to jump, exercise, and dance. Emphasis is on energy, rhythm and attitude! In addition, campers will learn elements of choreography and composition in order to create their own exciting dance piece as a team! The grand finale… a studio performance to showcase the campers' own choreographic creations, artistry, and technique!

Week 3: July 17th – July 21st
Sports Camp

Join us for a fun jam-packed week of sports and team-building! This camp offers soccer, volleyball, tee ball, lacrosse and so much more! When kids play sports, they get more than just exercise. Besides being physically healthier, they have higher self-esteem and a healthier body image. Sports camp emphasizes healthy competition, teamwork and individual development, and most of all…fun! (All campers receive a Y-Drawstring bag)

Week 4: July 23rd - July 27th 
Martial Arts Camp

Experience the essence of martial arts training combined with the extra fun and excitement of kid-approved activities. Camp Leaders provide a way for campers to get the best martial arts experience at any skill level. Novice martial artists as well as advanced martial arts students benefit and learn at the appropriate level. Activities include basic techniques, self-defense, board breaking and more! In addition to martial arts training, daily activities are regularly updated to continue the fun!

Week 5: July 30th – August 3rd
Basketball Camp

The perfect summer activity for kids focused on the game of basketball. Children will have the opportunity to spend the day immersed in basketball learning from our skilled coaches in a safe and fun environment. Players will work on a variety of skills each day. There are a variety of shooting, dribbling, passing, footwork and defensive drills so players have something new to work on each day and are constantly learning new skills. Learning all facets of the game helps make players well rounded and consistent athletes. (All campers receive a Team Jersey)

Week 6: August 6th - August 10th
Cooking Camp

With a large helping of fun, a dash of laughter and a spoonful of delicious treats, this camp is the perfect recipe for a week well spent. This summer, introduce your little ones to new cuisines and get them comfortable in the kitchen. These little chefs will receive teachings in cooking safety, cooking techniques, nutrition, menu planning and the essentials for making scrumptious meals. And by the end of it all, don’t miss your chance to eat out at the Y - a menu made by kids for you!

Week 7: August 13th - August 17th

STEAM Camp

Designed to inspire a love for science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics—this camp inspires a passion for science using hands-on lessons constructed to excite and demystify the mind. Our STEAM camp gives kids the opportunities to explore the wonders of science in an engaging, friendly and thrilling atmosphere. From participating in mind-blowing activities to managing experiments, your child will come away curious and inspired by the power of science and its counterparts. If it’s not fun, we’re not doing it!

Youth Leaders & Junior Counselor In Training

YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM       Pre-teens age 13

Youth Leaders In Training is an exclusive program designed to give selected students (13 years of age) an innovative summer program that focuses on  leadership training, teamwork, self-government, and volunteer opportunity to help build confidence – and connections. Youth Leaders In Training consists of leadership training and actual work experience with a small group of campers under the supervision of a YMCA staff person. The program will give youth the opportunity to take the roles as leaders while in the Summer Day Camp. Your child will:

  • Meet other youth
  • Build new skills
  • Participate in your community programming
  • Plan for the future 
  • Obtain innovative skills through Public Speaking
JUNIOR COUNSELOR IN TRAINING    Teens ages 14-15

The Junior Counselor in Training Program is designed to give selected students (14-15 years of age, grades 8 thru 10) the opportunity to learn and develop leadership and program skills while in the Summer Day Camp Program. This program is for those students who are interested in learning about leadership and responsibility. The program consists of training and actual work experience with a small group of campers under the supervision of a YMCA staff person. Maturity and a sincere desire to work with children are essential.

All participants have the opportunity to shadow our Day Camp leaders and develop leadership skills. Space is limited.
