Lifeguard Swim Training Course
This class is geared for swimmers who are interested in becoming lifeguards in the near future but need some help brushing up on their strokes and endurance. Participants will gain the confidence and skills needed to pass the ARC lifeguard training pre-test.
Pre-requisites: Swimmers must have basic swim skills to enter this course. Monday, 5:00 pm - 5:45 pm

Lifeguard Pretest
This is a mandatory pre-test for all participants 15 and older who would like to take part in the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course. Swimmers must successfully complete the following swimming prerequisites to sign up for the Red Cross Lifeguard training course: (#1) Swim 300 yards continuously, using these strokes in the following order: 100 yards of front crawl (4 laps) using rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing, propellant kick, 100 yards of breaststroke (4 laps) using a pull, kick and glide sequence, 100 yards (4 laps) of either front crawl or breaststroke. This last 100 yards may be a combination of front crawl and breaststroke. (#2) Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl of breaststroke, surface dive 8 feet, retrieve a 10 pound brick, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute and 10 seconds. Once participants pass the pretest, the instructor will allow them to sign up for the training that fits with their schedule.
If a participant fails a pretest they have the option of signing up for the Lifeguard Swim Training Course and later retaking the Lifeguard Pretest.

Lifeguard Training Class (American Red Cross Certification)
Are you 15 years of age or older and looking for a great summer job or a challenging career? American Red Cross Lifeguarding is the best place to start! Lifeguarding puts you in the exciting position of working as part of a team to help people safely enjoy the water. The course will help you develop skills and experiences that will be valued by colleges and future employers.
Through classroom learning and hands-on practice, you'll learn: Surveillance skills to help you recognize and prevent injuries, Rescue skills - in the water and on land, First aid training and professional rescuer CPR with AED- to help you prepare for any emergency, Professional lifeguard responsibilities like interacting with the public and addressing
uncooperative patrons. Course includes resuscitation mask and student manual.
For students to receive 1 year CPR/AED and 3 year Lifeguarding and First Aid certification they must receive a minimum score of 80% on the written exams and complete all the skills without assistance from the instructor.

CPR Training Classes
American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED
This course is designed for people with job-related duties in emergency preparedness and response. This includes nurses, law enforcement and EMS personnel, fire fighters, lifeguards, and others who must take action in emergency situations. Students learn with hands-on practice while watching a video about how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants. Students will receive hands-on training with the Automatic Electronic Defibulator (AED) on adult and child victims in cardiac arrest. In addition, students will learn how to use protective equipment to prevent blood-borne pathogens and other diseases from spreading.

A.R.C. CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED Challenge
This course is designed for individuals already skilled and knowledgeable with CPR and the using the AED. Individuals must be prepared to score a minimum of 80% on the written exam and pass the emergency skill scenarios. There is no review, practicing or Instructing offered. Students must bring their own CPR mask. Manual are not included in this course.

Heart saver CPR/AED
The Heart saver CPR Course teaches CPR and relief of choking in adults, children, and infants with the use of barrier devices. The course is designed for those who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements. Most participants in this course are members of workplace First Aid Teams, Lifeguards, or other layperson-responders who would respond to CPR emergencies that might occur around them. This course is not intended for Nursing Students, EMTs, or other Healthcare Providers.
Heart saver CPR/AED Renewal Course
This course is designed for individuals who work in a healthcare setting and are currently certified in Healthcare Provider level CPR. Upon successful course completion, including written and practical examinations (84% or higher), participants will receive an American Heart Association Heart saver CPR card that is valid for 2 years. The following skills for adult, child and infant will be evaluated during this program: Assisted Ventilations- mouth to mouth, mouth to mask and bag valve mask techniques, check compressions, and relief of foreign body airway obstruction in the conscious and unconscious patient. Use of the Automated External Defibrillator for adult and child will also be evaluated. Any participant unable to adequately demonstrate proficiency in these skills will not be recertified and must attend a full BLS for Healthcare Providers course. Students must bring their own CPR mask. Manual are not included in this course.

CPR Training for NEW Parents
This course provides new parents or caregivers the knowledge on how to act and respond to an infantÕs breathing emergencies. Participants will learn infant CPR and how to relieve choking. For students to receive their certifications they must receive a minimum score of 80% on the written exams and pass the emergency skill scenarios. Course fee includes student manual and CPR mask.

BLS For Healthcare Providers Classes
American Heart Association BLS For Healthcare Provider
This course is designed for individuals who work in a healthcare setting and those who are required to take a healthcare provider course for their employment. Upon successful course completion, including written and practical examinations (84% or higher), participants will receive an American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR card that is valid for 2 years.
This course teaches the latest CPR science in compliance with the 2005 Guidelines for Emergency Cardiovascular Care. The course teaches adult, child, and infant techniques. Through video instruction and hands-on practice, participants will learn: how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a heart attack and stroke and the actions to take; how to recognize respiratory and cardiac arrest and how to perform adult rescue breathing, one-rescuer CPR and two-rescuer CPR; how to recognize choking and the technique to relieve a foreign body airway obstruction in conscious and unconscious victims; how to perform rescue breathing using barrier devices and bag-valve-mask; and the principles of early defibrillation and how to operate an automated external defibrillator. Course fee includes student manual and a CPR mask.

Upon successful course completion, including written and practical examinations (84% or higher), participants will receive an American Heart Association Heart saver CPR card that is valid for 2 years. Under the new American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR released at the end of 2005, this is a 4 hour course covering CPR for all age groups. Participants will learn and practice CPR for adults, children, and infants, and airway obstruction for conscious and unconscious patient. Use of the Automated External Defibrillator for adult and child will also be reviewed. Course fee includes student manual and CPR mask.
